My friend, and fellow official, noted that I do not often speak about officiating on this blog...so here you go buddy...
Try this, and it is very very difficult!
The next time you are watching sports on TV (not football) watch the officials. Try to understand there inidividual responsibilities, and how they move and rotate with the other officials. The reason football is not a good gauge is that they dont really move, other than getting out of the way.
See if you can put yourself in their shoes before you yell at them "you dumb motherf#$%...How did you miss that???"

When you become an official this is almost impossible not to do. Almost a post mortem with myself. I spent a good bit of time thinking about the recent issue with the NHL official and players claim that he told him he was going to get him.
LOL, your other reader says; You cannot truly appreciate officials until you have actually been in their shoes...I used to be "one of those" until having the pleasure of wearing the stripes!
